I was wondering what category to put this in, I decided that it was bought for music management. the center, then let it be audio equipment. Obviously, anything that is usually controlled by household IR remote controls can be controlled - audio, video, television, computers, etc.

Those. this is stupid Layer 1 accessory 😉

There were no packaging, boxes, instructions or anything else.

The bottom is a cluster of IR emitters and a mini-jack 3.5 male connector.

Wire length “Receiver” - “mini jack 3.5” - 1.9 m,

Wire length “mini jack 3.5” - “IR emitters”

Receiver - attached in the highest place on the cabinet:

It has a reddish LED that flashes when a signal is received.

Here is the point - the emitter itself is very small and its emitting LED is located deep in the center, so it needs to be positioned exactly opposite the receiver:

(I wanted to insert a picture here, but my voltage meter showed zeros)

and when pressing buttons on the remote control:

But if anyone needs an expanded coverage area, they are worth considering.

small-sized, lightweight, required minimum of wires.

In my version it is impossible to connect additional. receivers, i.e. not expandable (at least without ratfile)

Requests very clear positioning of the emitter relative to the receiver.

It works, costs your own money, I recommend buying it.

To control music - a wireless mouse. The player interface suits every taste. Coming soon to player.com.

PS tel samsung smart tv.

but the remote control is often faster.

There is a TV and a satellite receiver in the bedroom, my wife often watches TV in the kitchen and wanted to have a satellite signal there too.

I cut and extended the LF cable with flowers and the IR extension cable (this also had to be lengthened).

The length of each cable was approximately 7.5-8 meters.

Everything works great.

The Chinese don't sell anything like that yet.

Okhoto is already FullHDi.

We present a review of a TV that is definitely of great interest, both in terms of physical characteristics - size, resolution and screen geometry - and in terms of the set of functions inherent in modern “smart” TVs. However, not all the skills and abilities of this advanced device were subject to our testing; we simply did not try to include some of them - the manufacturer implemented too much of everything in it. As a result, this article mainly presents the results of testing the TV as a display device.

Appearance

The TV does not have an extremely thin body, so if mounted on a wall it will not look like a picture, especially considering the curvature of the screen. The bend of the screen, by the way, is not very large - the center relative to the edges goes approximately 60 mm deep with a width of almost 1.5 m. The screen is curved only horizontally, forming, as it were, part of a vertical cylinder so that the focus (or center of this cylinder) is approximately at a distance of 4 m from the screen surface. The bend, however, is uneven - the central part is almost flat, closer to the edges the concavity is greater, and very close to the right and left borders the screen is even slightly convex. When viewing, this unevenness is almost unnoticeable - the general feeling of lateral coverage prevails - but the reflection of objects (for example, the user himself) in the off screen reveals a deviation from cylindricity. The outer surface of the matrix is relatively hard and mirror-smooth; it is apparently made of scratch-resistant plastic. At the same time, an effective anti-glare filter reduces the brightness of reflected objects to such an extent that the specularity of the screen does not interfere with viewing.

The narrow (approximately 10 mm) mirror-smooth front frame is made of metal (apparently aluminum alloy) and coated with black (does not reflect or distract!) scratch-resistant enamel. The perimeter end frame is made of plastic with a tinted chrome finish. The total width of the frame at the top and sides reaches about 12 mm. At the bottom, the end frame moves away from the front by a few millimeters - the resulting gap is used to place an IR receiver, a light sensor, an illuminated insert in the center, and as an acoustic tunnel for mid- and high-frequency speakers (the diffusers of two can be seen in the photo below).

All these things, except for the matte white insert, are located in the depths and are invisible to the user - the screen is perceived as a monolithic concave surface. In the center at the top end there is a tiny video camera, which especially suspicious people can push inside when it is not needed.

Next to the camera there are two grilles that apparently cover microphones. The rear panel is combined - most of it is made of an aluminum plate with a matte anodized and painted black surface, and black plastic inserts with a matte surface are used on the top and bottom.

On the back you can find the following: a “joystick-like button” that can be used to control the TV if the remote control is not available,

two niches - one for the One Connect cable,

the second for the power cable,

and four threaded holes for a 400 x 400 mm VESA bracket (use the included plastic spacers).

The base of the standard stand is made of aluminum alloy. The front part of the base is a monolithic plate with a matte surface and no coating, which is a minor miscalculation, since this surface glares and slightly distracts from what is happening on the screen. Part of the base is covered with a black plastic shield. There are 8 rubber tablet feet glued to the bottom. The stand's stand is made of steel coated with black enamel and covered on the outside with a black plastic cover. At the back of the stand there is a bracket through which you can thread outgoing cables (and there are two of them!). The TV stands on the stand stably and strictly vertically.

All interfaces to external devices and, apparently, the “smart” filling are located in a separate block One Connect, connected to the TV itself with a thick cable 2.9 m long.

The body of this unit is made partly of black plastic with a matte surface, partly of plastic with a “chrome-plated” mirror-smooth surface, and the top panel of aluminum with a matte surface completes this combination. Numerous interface connectors are located on two sides of the One Connect unit.

Despite active cooling (a fan is installed inside), during operation the unit’s body heats up to a “very warm” state. The TV itself has completely passive cooling - air circulates through a few ventilation grilles - and practically does not heat up during operation.

The TV and everything for it are packaged in a relatively small box - its dimensions do not greatly exceed the width, length and thickness of the screen unit. The stand base and stand are placed separately, the rest of the accessories are distributed in three black boxes of varying hardness.

The thin cardboard box contains the documentation, the One Connect unit is packed in the corrugated cardboard box, and the most representative box contains all the other small things.

Remote controller

Remote control Samsung Smart Control After curvature and ultra-high resolution, this is perhaps the most remarkable detail of this TV. The remote control body is made of plastic with a silver coating, the battery compartment cover is made of black matte plastic with a ribbed surface, the panel under the buttons is made of hard plastic, while the buttons, including intricately shaped ones, protrude through exactly the corresponding slots in the panel . In the center of the cursor button block there is a concave oval-shaped touch panel. The remote control is small, streamlined and has, in general, not many buttons, which is more than compensated for by its advanced functionality. In terms of the method of communication with the TV, the remote control is hybrid - at least one command (turning on the TV) is transmitted via the IR channel, while Bluetooth is used to transmit everything else. There are even more options for using the remote control. Pressing the remote's mechanical buttons activates the corresponding functions, with the functions of some buttons depending on the context, and some functions are called up by long pressing a row of buttons. The touchpad recognizes pressing and moving along two coordinates - selection confirmation and two-axis scrolling. When you touch the touch panel, the gyroscopic sensor is activated, which implements the function of a two-axis pointer (gyro mouse). Pressing a button Voice activates voice control (there is a microphone hole in the front of the remote control). To complete the brief description of the remote control’s functions, we can mention the possibility of using a virtual on-screen remote control, which is called up when you press a button Keypad, as well as the presence of NFC - short-range communication technology, used, apparently, only to automate the installation of the Smart View 2.0 program on mobile devices running Android. Quote from the manual: "Smart View 2.0 is a cross-platform multi-screen application that allows you to mirror your TV screen to an NFC-enabled device, transfer multimedia content between two devices, and control your TV remotely."

In the context of this section, we will mention the ability to control gestures recognized using the TV camera (it, of course, must be brought into working position). In addition, the camera can also be used to recognize users’ faces when logging into an account. Samsung Apps TV. The manual for the TV also mentions the possibility of using a regular keyboard and mouse connected via Bluetooth or USB as input devices.

We cannot evaluate the operation of NFC and Smart View 2.0 - we have not tried it, the remaining control methods from our point of view can be characterized as follows: for typical functions such as volume control, it is more convenient to use the regular buttons on the remote control; you want to use the touch panel and gyroscope when working with advanced programs , for example, with a web browser, voice control is more convenient to use in the option of dictating keywords for search, and gesture control is one of those functions that you forget about after a couple of minutes of trial testing.

Switching

As already mentioned, interface connectors for connecting external devices are located on the One Connect external unit. It also apparently has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless adapters installed. The table with characteristics at the beginning of the article gives an idea of the communication capabilities of the TV. Let's note a couple of points: there is a USB 3.0 port with increased load capacity and two USB 2.0 ports, you can connect to a satellite dish using two cables, one HDMI port supports MHL (but there is no MHL cable included), analog video and sound are output through small-sized multi-pin connectors, which requires the use of special adapters (included in the kit), no card reader for SD cards, no headphone output (but support for Bluetooth headphones is announced, with the ability to separately output sound from two virtual screens to these headphones and to the TV speakers). External devices can be controlled using an HDMI connection using Anynet+ technology (HDMI-CEC), as well as via IR using an external IR transmitter connected to the One Connect unit.

Wi-Fi and Ethernet allow you to connect your TV to the Internet, integrate it into your home network, and also use it in conjunction with mobile devices, realizing many interaction options.

Sound

As already mentioned, there is no headphone output, but, as a last resort, ordinary wired headphones can be connected to the minijack in the bunch of analog connectors on one of the adapters. The volume is not adjustable from the TV side - in the case of our headphones it was slightly higher than comfortable, but still within acceptable limits. But in comparison with built-in acoustics, the quality is somewhat better - the range of reproduced frequencies is wider, the stereo effect is better.

Working with video sources

Cinema operating modes were tested when connected to. An HDMI connection was used. The TV supports 480i/p, 576i/p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p modes at 24/50/60 Hz. The colors are correct, all shade gradations are displayed in the standard video range, there is real support for 1080p mode at 24 fps - in this mode, frames are displayed with the same duration. Brightness and color clarity are always very high and are determined more by the type of video signal rather than by the quality of the TV's video path.

The TV often converts interlaced video signals into progressive images in the most correct way, restoring the frame from the fields even in the case of the most intricate methods of alternating even and odd fields. When scaling from low resolutions (which in this case includes 1080i/p) and even in the case of interlaced signals and dynamic images, the boundaries of objects are smoothed - the jagged edges on the diagonals are not visible. The quality of scaling is generally very good, the TV tries to improve the image whenever possible, however, sometimes you want to intervene in this process, for example, slightly reduce the increase in contour sharpness in the case of movies on DVD. Improved features include noise reduction - it works perfectly - and the function of inserting intermediate frames. The quality of the latter is also very high - intermediate frames are calculated correctly and with high detail, even with fast and complex movement of the background and foreground objects. There are very few artifacts, in most cases everything is limited to subtle ripples on the boundaries of objects in motion. In the case of widescreen movies with an aspect ratio above 16:9, it makes sense to enable the screen dimming function along the top and bottom edges - this significantly reduces the visibility (however low) of the black bars that complement the picture to the screen format.

In the case of a DVI connection to a computer (using a simple adapter cable from HDMI to DVI), resolutions up to 1920 by 1080 are supported. On the TV you can get a picture without cutting edges exactly along the edges of the screen and with good clarity. However, at the same time, the horizontal color clarity is still slightly reduced, in particular on one-pixel colored lines (of the original image), depending on the parity of the line, the color component may disappear, and on a black background such lines may disappear altogether.

Connecting to a computer via HDMI made it possible to display an image with a resolution of 3840 by 2160 pixels with a maximum frequency of 30 frames/s in the case of our video card. Please note that in 4K mode some functions are not available. Despite the 4:4:4 encoded RGB (extended luminance range) input signal, color clarity is still reduced with the same parity interleaving. This does not interfere with watching movies and photographs (they are usually encoded with a decrease in color clarity), but when using this TV as a huge computer monitor, this moment will already acquire the status of a significant drawback.

Playing multimedia content

In our superficial testing of multimedia content playback, we limited ourselves to a number of files launched from an external 2.5-inch hard drive connected to the TV via USB 2.0. The manual for the TV describes in sufficient detail what and from what it should be reproduced. Of course, with the release of new TV software updates, everything can change and, most likely, for the better.

We have confirmed the TV's ability to display raster graphics files in JPEG, PNG, BMP and MPO (stereoscopic picture format) formats, including as slide shows with transition effects and selected background music. The “bunny” in the photo below is the gyro mouse cursor on the remote control.

In the case of audio files, many common and not so common formats are supported.

A similar situation arises for video files - support for a large number of different containers and codecs, several audio tracks, external and built-in subtitles is announced. Indeed, most of the files we tested played normally, including UHD videos with a stream of about 60 Mbit/s. Sound tracks switched, Russian subtitles were displayed normally.

True, the maximum supported frame rate for our test videos to determine the uniformity of frame alternation for 720p and 1080p was 50 fps, and for 4K (2160p) - 25 fps inclusive. Also, the TV was unable to play several test files that can be played without problems, for example, on the vast majority of modern mobile devices, limiting itself to the optimistic remark that “the selected file is currently not supported.” By the way, there are no complaints about frame alternation, since files with 24, 25, 30 and 50 fps are reproduced perfectly, without a single skipped frame and with equal frame duration, that is, the TV adjusts the output frequency to the frame rate in the video file and “ is not distracted" by something extraneous. The identified shortcomings include outputting video images in an expanded brightness range. Since most videos are encoded in the standard 16-235 range, the image of such files will have low contrast, due to the fact that black will appear as a dark dark gray, and white as a slightly grayish color. We hope this will be fixed in future updates.

Microphotographs of the matrix

The identified screen characteristics suggest that this TV has a *VA type matrix installed. Microphotographs do not contradict this:

It can be seen that the subpixels of three colors (red, green and blue) are divided into three almost identical independently (at least in relation to one from the other two) controlled areas, each of which is divided into two areas with domains in different orientations. Such a complex device, in principle, is capable of providing a wide dynamic range in terms of the number of shades, since with increasing brightness the areas are switched on sequentially, and good viewing angles, which is facilitated by variations in the orientation of the LCD in the domains.

Brightness and power consumption measurements

Brightness measurements were taken at 25 screen points located in increments of 1/6 of the screen width and height (screen borders not included). Contrast was calculated as the ratio of the brightness of the white and black fields at the measured points.

Hardware measurements showed that the contrast is high, the uniformity of the white field is very good, and the uniformity of the black field, and as a result, the contrast is not much lower. On the black field you can see some variation in illumination over the screen area:

This TV uses LED edge lighting, with the LEDs arranged in groups (possibly just one LED each) along the sides of the screen. Groups can be included independently or in pairs opposite each other. The first option is used to implement dynamic local backlight adjustment (function Smart LED), which can visually increase the contrast of the image, but also lead to visible artifacts in the form of halos around small bright objects on a dark background.

The second option - simultaneous switching on of groups of LEDs opposite each other - allows you to implement a vertically scanning backlight mode. The backlight control is implemented in such a way that at maximum brightness in 2D mode there is virtually no brightness modulation, and when the brightness decreases, modulation appears with a main frequency of 120 Hz (at 60 Hz vertical scan):

Dependence of brightness on time for different values of average backlight brightness.

Since when the brightness of the backlight decreases, the amplitude decreases and the dependence resembles a sine wave, the flickering of the backlight at reduced brightness is noticeable to a lesser extent than in the case of modulation by rectangular pulses with a sharp measurement of brightness from zero to maximum.

In stereoscopic mode, the nature of the backlight operation is somewhat different - it operates in a pulse mode, and the pulse occurs at the moment when one lens of the glasses is already completely open and the other is closed:

As a result of such synchronous operation of the glasses and the backlight, it is possible to obtain better separation of angles with a smaller drop in brightness, since the shutters of the glasses open at the moment when the transition of the state of the LCD cells is completed and the backlight brightness is maximum. However, despite the pulsed nature in 3D mode, the screen brightness is still only 40% of the brightness in 2D mode. Also, apparently, in the 3D mode, the scanning order of switching on groups of LEDs is maintained synchronously with the screen update, which helps to achieve good separation of angles (similarly, the backlight turns on at the moment when the state transition of the LCD cells is close to completion).

There is another function that uses backlight control - inserting an intermediate black frame ( Clear image LED). Conventionally, between frames the backlight is practically turned off; during the “demonstration” of the frame, the brightness increases above the maximum in normal mode:

Average brightness still remains at about 70% of normal mode brightness. At the same time, dynamic clarity can be considered to increase, but unpleasant flickering at low frequencies reduces the positive effect to a minimum. But maybe someone will like it.

Brightness of the white field in the center of the screen and power consumption:

In standby mode and in the off state, consumption was 0.2 W.

At maximum brightness, the image will not seem faded even in a brightly lit room, and at minimum, the TV will not be tiring to watch even in complete darkness (if the sensitivity to flicker is low).

When selecting the option Economy sensor dir. The brightness of the screen adjusts to the external light - in the dark the screen brightness decreases, in a brightly lit room the brightness increases. In this mode you can set the minimum brightness level.

Determining response time and output latency

The response time for the black-white-black transition is 10 ms (5.6 ms on + 4.4 ms off). Transitions between semitones occur on average in 9.4 ms in total. Relatively low response times are achieved by slightly overclocking the matrix, as illustrated by the brightness graph below obtained for a halftone transition:

However, this overclocking does not cause any visible artifacts.

The image output delay relative to the CRT monitor for Full HD 60 fps mode was about 140 ms with a DVI (HDMI) connection. The delay does not yet require correction of sound synchronization, but playing dynamic games or working on a computer is already very unpleasant. Selecting the special gaming mode reduced the latency to 64 ms (with a DVI connection), which is still relatively high, but much better. In UHD mode there is no such option, and the delay is set at 130-140 ms.

Assessment of color rendering quality

In mode Standard and without additional correction one can expect a gamma curve close to a power function with an exponent of 2.2. The expectations were justified. To assess the pattern of brightness growth on the gray scale, we measured the brightness of 256 shades of gray (from 0, 0, 0 to 255, 255, 255). The approximating exponential function with an exponent of 2.16 (this is practically indistinguishable from 2.2) coincides well with the real gamma curve:

The graph below shows the increase (not absolute value!) in brightness between adjacent halftones:

The increase in brightness is on average uniform, but not each subsequent shade is significantly brighter than the previous one; apparently, additional digital correction is performed, which inevitably leads to the loss of distinguishable gradations of shades. However, this does not affect the real images in any way. In the shadows, the pair of shades closest to black are indistinguishable in brightness, but again, this minimal blockage in the shadows has virtually no effect on the image quality:

Note that when viewed from a slight angle, the visibility of details in the shadows increases slightly, and this is typical for *VA type matrices.

To assess the quality of color rendering, we used the i1Pro 2 and spectrophotometer.

Color gamut varies slightly depending on profile and parameter value Color. space. When choosing Original for this setting the maximum coverage is:

When choosing Auto and in mode Standard slightly less coverage:

In any case (without special additional correction) the coverage is close to sRGB, so the colors on the screen of this TV have natural saturation. Below is the spectrum for the white field (white line), superimposed on the spectra of the red, green and blue fields (lines of the corresponding colors), obtained in the maximum coverage mode:

Such spectra with a relatively narrow peak in blue and wide humps in green and red are typical for LCD screens that use LED backlighting with a blue emitter and a yellow phosphor. The graphs below show the color temperature at different parts of the gray scale and the deviation from the blackbody spectrum (ΔE parameter) for the modes Standard And Movie. (The range close to black can be ignored, since color rendering in it is not so important, and the error in measuring color characteristics is high.)

The first mode clearly does not have good color balance. In mode Movie the situation is better, since at least the color temperature is no longer much higher than the standard 6500 K. ΔE is below 10 units in both cases, which is already good for a consumer device, but the change in this parameter from shade to shade is still quite large. Note that with a strong desire, experience and means of control, the color balance can be corrected by the settings of the TV itself - if certain conditions are met, the white balance can be adjusted in 10 ranges of the brightness scale.

Measuring viewing angles

To find out how screen brightness changes when deviated from perpendicular to the screen, we took a series of measurements of black, white and grayscale brightness at the center of the screen over a wide range of angles, deflecting the sensor axis in the vertical, horizontal and diagonal (corner to corner) directions.

Vertical In the horizontal plane
Diagonally Brightness of the black field as a percentage of the maximum brightness of the white field
Contrast

Reducing brightness by 50% of maximum value:

We note a very smooth decrease in brightness when deviating from the perpendicular to the screen in the horizontal direction, while the halftone brightness graphs do not intersect over the entire range of measured angles. The brightness decreases slightly faster when deviating in the vertical direction. When deviating in the diagonal direction, the behavior of the brightness of the shades is intermediate between the vertical and horizontal directions. The brightness of the black field increases when deviating from the perpendicular to the screen, and with a diagonal deviation it increases significantly, but only to about 0.5% of the maximum brightness of the white field and only with a very large deviation (at 60°). Only the best versions of IPS matrices can boast such stability of the black field. At the same time, the shade of the black field remains close to a neutral gray color. Contrast over a range of ±82° angles in all directions is significantly greater than 10:1.

To quantify the change in color rendering, we performed colorimetric measurements for white, gray (127, 127, 127), red, green and blue, as well as light red, light green and light blue fields in the full screen using a setup similar to that , which was used in the previous test. Measurements were carried out in the angle range from 0° (the sensor is directed perpendicular to the screen) to 80° in steps of 5°. The obtained intensity values were recalculated into deviation ΔE relative to the measurement of each field at a perpendicular position of the sensor relative to the screen. The results are presented below:

You can choose a deviation of 45° as a reference point. The criterion for maintaining the correctness of colors can be considered a value of ΔE less than 3. It follows from the graphs that when viewed from an angle, most colors change significantly, which is expected for a VA* type matrix and is its main disadvantage.

Testing in stereoscopic mode

To create a stereoscopic image, a method of alternating full frames is used. Frames for the right and left eyes are sequentially displayed on the TV screen, and active glasses synchronously with the frames block the eyes, leaving open the one for which the currently displayed frame is intended.

The package includes four pairs of SSG-5100GB glasses, powered by a CR2025 lithium battery (claimed to last for 150 hours of operation), and synchronized via a radio frequency channel (apparently via Bluetooth).

If necessary, you can purchase additional glasses, including, for sure, rechargeable and compatible ones from a third-party manufacturer. The supplied glasses are very comfortable and lightweight (it is promised that they weigh only 24 g with battery), they can be used with regular corrective glasses without any problems. In terms of comfort of use, these are the best of all the active glasses we have tested.

The TV supports three methods of receiving a stereo pair - packed frames, when two full frames are transmitted for both eyes, and two combined formats: horizontally (in the right half of the frame, a frame is compressed twice horizontally for one eye, in the left half - for the second), and vertically (similar to the previous one, only the frames for the eyes are placed in the lower and upper half of the frame). There is another mode for outputting a stereoscopic image - a mode for automatically converting a regular “flat” image into a stereoscopic one.

We tested the stereoscopic “packed frames” mode using . Overall the quality was very high, although there was still some slight crosstalk visible in some shots.

To test the effectiveness of eye separation, we displayed three test images with a black rectangle on a white background, a white rectangle on a black background, and a light gray rectangle on a dark gray background. In stereo pairs, the rectangles were offset relative to each other, so when viewed through the glasses at 100% separation, only one rectangle would be visible. The photographs below were taken through glasses, and the exposure was selected so that the white field in the photographs was as bright as possible, but not yet overexposed.

It can be seen that the quality of separation of black on a white background and white on a black background is very high. The gray-on-gray separation is somewhat worse.

The maximum brightness when displaying a white field in the case of registration through glasses is reduced to 13% relative to registration of a white field in 2D mode and without glasses. It should be taken into account that the perceived brightness of the image does not decrease when one eye is closed, and the measurements were taken through only one glass. As a result, to estimate the maximum possible perceived brightness in stereoscopic mode, the resulting value must be multiplied by 2, which gives 26% of the original brightness of the white field. According to subjective feelings, there is no lack of brightness in stereoscopic mode.
